In an interview with Swiss Newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) Ijad Madisch talks about the alternative to the Impact Factor: the new RG Score shall value scientific papers published on researchgate.com. 

Madisch talks also about his aim to integrate professors into the open science process, because to his mind they often do not believe in the value of sharing information.

For journalists, open access to science needs to be complemented by open access to scientists. Yet there are still too many obstacles to the free flow of scientific information — from rapacious publishers to restrictive intellectual property laws and unsympathetic research institutions. Wiley Moves towards Broader Open Access Licence

Wiley is responding to recent developments in funder and government policies and supports the sustainable evolution of scientific publishing. The change will be implemented immediately. The Wiley Open Access portfolio also includes journals published with society partners, many of which will similarly transfer to the Creative Commons Attribution license.

30.000 Euro for open access publications: Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz Germany established fund for open access

Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler der JGU haben ab sofort die Möglichkeit, finanzielle Unterstützung für das Veröffentlichen von Beiträgen in Open Access-Zeitschriften zu bekommen. Die Universität hat dazu einen Publikationsfonds für die Finanzierung von Artikelbearbeitungsgebühren eingerichtet. Der für 2012 erstmals bereitgestellte Fonds umfasst 30.000 Euro. Bei der Vergabe der Fördermittel wird der wissenschaftliche Nachwuchs bevorzugt behandelt.
